6th Grade Registration Information
5th GRADE PARENTS....please read the information below!
IMPORTANT DATES:
MARCH 30 Parents will receive an email with instructions to complete an on-line Google form indicating what music class their student will take (descriptions below). Please check your spam or junk mail if you haven’t received an email. Parents without an email can call the school.

APRIL 6: ALL FORMS MUST BE COMPLETED regardless of your intention to attend a different school for 6th grade. The google form has a question pertaining to moving or attending another school.
Monday, APRIL 27 or Tuesday, APRIL 28.
The 5th grade students will visit Sunrise Middle School from 8:30 – 9:45.
Specific date and additional information will be available from your elementary school.
Wednesday, April 29 5:45-6:45 pm
Parent Information Night in the Sunrise Middle School cafeteria.
BAND
Sixth grade band is open to all students starting in 6th Grade. In band you get to choose from the instruments below, and spend the year learning the basics of how to perform on that instrument. We have 3 concerts throughout the year and play many different types of music! If you want a head start, we offer a beginning band camp every summer. More information will be given at the end of the year! Instrument Options: Flute, Oboe, Clarinet, Saxophone, Trumpet, French Horn, Trombone, Baritone, and Tuba.
CHOIR
In 6th grade choir, students build on their music experience by improving vocal techniques, singing in harmony, and reading music. The class focuses on group singing, teamwork, and music concepts like reading a score, understanding composer markings, and navigating the voice change. Students rehearse songs and prepare for performances, gaining confidence while working together as an ensemble.
ORCHESTRA
Fifth grade orchestra students wanting to continue playing a stringed instrument should sign up for sixth grade orchestra! Students will apply the musical concepts from fifth grade into more challenging and fun music. Students participate in several concerts throughout the year and complete weekly practicing homework Students who did not participate in fifth grade orchestra can still join, but are encouraged to sign up for the “Intro to Strings” class over the summer! Instrument Options: Violin - Viola - Cello – Bass
